The 2007 State Convention, under the leadership of Department President Shirley Turner of Cleveland, was a great success. Our hosts, Post and Unit 6 in Corinth, were most welcoming and accommodating. At left, Shirley enters the room to take the podium. Below, our faithful members gathered and took their seats in the audience, all ready for informative sessions and awards.

Above, PDP Bobbie Worrell, a member of the Girls State Committee, presented the brand new Girls
State Flag to the membership. This flag has been a project for Bobbie during the year and is a great
addition to our program. Below, Girls State Director Lou Wilkerson and the 2007 Magnolia Girls State
Governor Meghan Litton await her address to the members. At right, Meghan greets the assembly.
At left, Executive Director of the State Veterans Board Adrian Grice speaks to the Convention. On
right, District Presidents (l to r) Virginia Gay, Mauvelene Mann and Carolyn Tardy listen to reports.
At left, Unit 56 President Paula McGinnis accepts her unit's Unit of the Year award, category II. At
right, Lorene Martin was the lucky winner of an antique gold necklace, a drawing for all units who
reached 100% junior membership goal during the year.
At left, Megan Porter of Columbus was crowned our State Little Miss Poppy. Center, Emma Simpson
of Clarksdale always lends her beautiful voice and leads us in song. At right, Betty West of Aberdeen
shows off a creative poppy arrangement that was entered in the contest to raise funds at convention.
