Department Membership Goals
1. Enlist Legionnaires to help sign up new members for the Auxiliary
2. Revitalize, at a minimum, one Unit in each District
3. Institute one new Unit in each District
4. Achieve 100% membership goals in at least 65% of our Units
I truly enjoyed the Spring Area
Conferences. I’m sorry I missed
Northern Area, but was happy to
see everyone at Southern and
Central Conferences.
I also appreciate all the
memberships that have been
coming in. We really need to push
those members who have not
renewed yet. Time is getting short,
and we want them to continue to
be a member to support our
mission.
The very act of renewing their
membership IS supporting the
Legion family. They may not be
able to attend meetings, but they
are standing with us.
We are preparing to travel to
Indianapolis for the Membership
Workshop. We’ll start formulating
our plan for next year’s
program. Wish us luck!
Let’s BEE All That We Can Bee.

Chairman

Miss Busy Bee Award
This award is available to any current member who actively recruits and signs
up (3) three NEW SENIOR members. It will be given as it is earned--at the Fall
Area Conferences, Mid-Winter Conference, Spring Area Conferences and at
State Convention (only one award per person). This special award will be a
Miss Busy Bee pin and all recipients will be expected to wear the pin at all
ensuing above mentioned meetings.
To receive this award it will be necessary for the Secretary of the Unit to keep
up with the information and write or e-mail me at the address below (as soon
as earned, four days prior to the conference—it’s important that I know in
advance) the name of the member to receive the award, along with the names
and the dates the three new members were sent to Department. It’s as simple
as that! Mary Lyles, 4611 Suffolk St., Pascagoula, MS 39581, jandmlyles@aol.
com (Subject: Miss Busy Bee Award).
Note: This award is a Department Award and is NOT the same as the National
RECRUIT 3 Award. You must follow directions and fill out the required
(furnished) form for the National award.
NEW-MEMBER KIT
Each new member should receive a “membership kit,” which will provide all
the necessary information to introduce the new member to the American
Legion Auxiliary. The kit should include the following, but add your own
special Unit touches:
• Our Preamble to the Constitution
• Unit Membership roster with phone numbers for easy contact
• Membership card
• “This is the ALA” brochure
• Auxiliary Membership Benefits brochure
• Department and National Web site addresses (if they are computer folks)
(You may order copies of the ALA brochure and Benefits brochure from the
Department office—keep a supply.)
