Greetings from the Department President

Right now, I’m still reeling from State Convention in Vicksburg,
where I was honored to be elected and installed as the 2008-09
Department President.  I am looking forward to getting this year
"jumping!"   I was so humbled that the Convention Hall was filled
to capacity at installation. So many of you have gone out of your way
to wish me luck - both Legionnaires and Auxiliary members.

For those of you who did not attend Convention, my theme this year
is H.O.P.E., which means "Honor Our Preamble Everyday." You
know, we sometimes get so wrapped up in our Units and our roles
in our Units that we forget the real meaning of what we stand for.
When this happens, we should take a step back, read our Auxiliary
Preamble and understand what it is that we recite at our Unit meetings.

We are all equal in the Auxiliary - our aims and purposes are to support The  American Legion.
There is no "I" in the Preamble, and there is no "Me" in Auxiliary. We are one.  That is THE HOPE
of your President this year.  Let’s get along - try a little harder - get back to the grassroots - be
friends. It is the bigger woman who takes that first step. Let’s work for the Auxiliary and have FUN
AND LAUGHTER doing it.

We are having fun with my frog pin, and I am already being called the Frog Woman, for heaven’s
sake!

If you are visiting our site, please take a look around and see what
we are about.  Consider joining the Legion family and help us
serve our Veterans, children and youth, and communities.

For God and Country,
